The parade is a relatively recent invention, an invitation for spectacle and community gathering. Stop by ShiftSpace for a First Friday reception centered around preparation for the Wichita State homecoming parade this fall.

This month, the gallery will function as an open studio where you can learn about and participate in our parade plans. While you’re here, make a sunflower that will adorn the ShiftSpace parade entry, and take one of your creations home with you. All materials will be provided, and members of the ShiftSpace Student Group will be on hand to walk you through the process.

Feeling ambitious? Use the templates we’ll provide to help make a large sunflower and wheat garland for our entry, which will reimagine Wichita State's iconic mascot WuShock as a harvest goddess.

Visiting artist George Ferrandi has been working with WSU ShiftSpace students to conceptualize and plan our part of the parade. Her residency was made possible with a grant from the Kansas Creative Arts Industries Commission.

ShiftSpace is funded by the WSU Student Government Association.
