The Chemistry and Biology Interface Undergraduate Research Showcase will be held Nov. 10 in the Rhatigan Student Center at Wichita State. The showcase provides an opportunity for undergraduate student researchers to present their scholarly activity to faculty and fellow students, and is a terrific opportunity for students to develop and foster relationships with fellow researchers, and provide a forum to practice presentation skills in a highly supportive environment.

Undergraduate students carrying out research in the Departments of Chemistry and Biochemistry, Biology, and Biomedical Engineering or related may apply, as well as students participating in the McNair Scholars/TRIO program. Apply at: https://forms.gle/AyKtiuBq38dLVSsg6.

Undergraduate student participants must submit an abstract. The abstract submission deadline is Oct. 27 by 5 p.m. Students may choose to present an oral or poster presentation (or both). Tentatively, oral presentations will take place between 1:30-3:15 p.m. on Nov. 10. Following will be a plenary lecture given by Dr. James Blakemore (https://chem.ku.edu/people/james-d-blakemore), Associate Professor of Chemistry at the University of Kansas and a former WSU undergrad. Poster presentations will take place after the lecture. Times for oral presentation will be determined based on the students class schedule.

Students selected for an oral presentation should prepare a 15 minute-long presentation which will be followed by five minutes for questions and answers. Students selected for a poster presentation should make a poster with the dimensions of 48 in x 36 in (W x H) and should be prepared to present the poster with a brief, two- to three-minute talk. Best oral and poster presentations will be selected for awards.

If you have any questions, please contact Jim Bann (jim.bann@wichita.edu).
