Induction into the Fairmount College Hall of Fame is the highest recognition of outstanding alumni who have had a significant impact on the region, nation and world. This year's inductees are:

Gary Bender
Speech -  1962
Gary Bender is a widely known sportscaster who covered Monday Night Baseball and the 1988 Winter Olympics while at ABC, play-by-play for the NFL, NBA, and college basketball and football games while at CBS, and as the play-by-play announcer on Fox Sports for the Phoenix Suns for 18 years. At the University of Wichita, he studied speech, and graduated in 1962.

Mona Nemer, PhD
Chemistry – 1977
Mona Nemer, PhD, is Canada’s chief science advisor, providing advice on the development and implementation of guidelines to ensure that government science is fully available to the public and that federal scientists are able to speak freely about their work. In 1977 she completed her bachelor’s degree in chemistry with minors in French and mathematics.

Lee Pelton
English Literature – 1973
Lee Pelton, PhD, is the CEO and president of The Boston Foundation, where he has prioritized the organization’s role as an agent for social change by centering equity in its programs, grant making and civic leadership. He completed his bachelor’s degree in English literature in 1973.
