Chiyoko Myose will be giving an artist talk in conjunction with “A Thread X A Thread,” an installation on display from April 12th through April 26th in the McKnight Art Center atrium.
 
Chiyoko Myose is an artist originally from Wakayama, Japan, now based in Wichita, KS. She holds a BA in English Literature from Doshisha Women’s College in Kyoto, Japan, and a BFA in painting from Wichita State University. Her works are primarily painting, and installation art. Chiyoko has been showing her works through exhibitions and commissions regionally, nationally, and internationally including Japan and Italy. Her large-scale solo exhibitions include the one at Main Gallery of CityArts, Wichita, KS, Mid America Arts Alliance in Kansas City, MO, Oklahoma Contemporary in Oklahoma City, OK, McKeon Center for Creativity, Tulsa, OK, and Northcutt Steele Gallery, Billings, MT. Her artist residencies include the one at International School of Painting, Drawing, and Sculpture in Umbria, Italy and Foundation House Artist Residency in Greenwich, CT. She has done several lectures, presentations, and workshops and she has collaborated with other forms of art such as classical music and contemporary dance. She was awarded several awards including a Koch Cultural Trust Enabling Grant, a Wichita Arts Council Artist Grant, and KMUW NPR Artist Series Award. She is married and has two children.
