America Makes Elects NIAR’s Mark Shaw to Executive Committee

America Makes has elected Mark Shaw, Chief Engineer of Defense Industrial Base Strategy at the Wichita State University’s National Institute for Aviation Research, to its 2026-28 Executive Committee. Shaw brings 35 years of advanced manufacturing leadership to the role, including his tenure as director of government programs and technology for GE Additive, where he helped drive the qualification and certification of additive manufacturing for aviation applications. He has worked extensively with the FAA, EASA, and the Department of Defense to shape the additive product qualification roadmap and played a key role in introducing metal additive manufacturing into commercial aviation. At NIAR, Shaw collaborates with government agencies, OEMs, and industry partners to advance U.S. industrial base modernization and develop national strategies for advanced manufacturing.
