COVID-19 Updates for NIAR Staff

April 21 Important Testing Updates

NIAR Staff, please see the following updates regarding COVID-19 vaccinations and guidelines:

  1. NIAR staff and students who have been fully vaccinated (both doses + 2-week waiting period) are no longer required to take a COVID test prior to meeting with clients/visitors UNLESS you are exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19.
Unvaccinated staff should continue to test prior to meeting with clients and visitors.
  1. Beginning next week and until further notice, we will only be making regular drop-offs at the MDL testing site on MONDAYS. The deadline will continue to be 4 p.m. If you need to submit a test on another day of the week, contact the Front Desk at 978-6427 for instructions.
  1. Student and Employee COVID-19 Vaccines
Vaccinations are now open to all WSU and WSU Tech employees and students, ages 18 and up. To schedule an appointment at WSU Student Health Services, sign into myWSU and go to the home page tab. Select the “Schedule Your COVID Vaccine Appointment” link on the left-hand side of the home page. Vaccinations at SHS are currently available to only WSU and WSU Tech students and employees. No family members at this time.
  1. Campus COVID signage update
With updated mask guidance in Sedgwick County, campus signs saying that masks are required on campus should now be removed. The Office of Strategic Communications has updated COVID-19 graphics available for anyone’s use. Signs that say “wear a mask” or “masks encouraged” can be displayed. In addition to the updated signage, we continue to strongly encourage our entire campus community to wear a mask, continue to social distance whenever possible, and get a COVID vaccines.

Nov. 16  Important NIAR COVID-19 testing policy updates

    • Thanks to WSU’s new Molecular Diagnostics Lab, we are now able to offer rapid testing for NIAR employees and their immediate contacts. We have a new protocol regarding testing and meeting with third party visitors (attached). Please review and implement this policy immediately. Forward this information to additional supervisors in your lab.

Each NIAR location has designated a test collector/s and protocol for testing at their facility. Any employee or immediate contact who needs a test for any reason, is permitted to take one. Designated test collectors for each location are listed below. Please be patient with the collectors and process at each location as this is an evolving learning process.
