Colby Duke, a Fall 2022 Computer Science graduate, began his Ennovar career as a SOC Team Lead before advancing to Project Lead at Spirit AeroSystems. Today, he works as an Information Security Analyst at Boeing Wichita, where he supports the Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) team. In his current role, Colby wears many hats. He helps lead phishing campaigns, develops security awareness training and company-wide communications, supports Boeing's ongoing CMMC compliance efforts, and serves as a liaison between the GRC and Data/AI teams to help drive AI initiatives.
Looking back, Colby credits Ennovar with giving him the opportunity to turn his interest in cybersecurity into a career. "Ennovar was an amazing opportunity to jump into and pursue a career that I was curious of. Prior to joining, cybersecurity was a passion, but anything but an easy thing to join." Through hands-on experience and leadership opportunities, he was able to build both his technical knowledge and confidence. "Ennovar gave me the ability to grow both while also further developing my leadership capabilities. This was all supported by an amazing team that both pushed me to excel and taught me along the way."
For Colby, one of the biggest highlights of Ennovar was the people. "The team and culture was great. I knew there would always be a place to bounce ideas and garner support whenever I needed it, but also a place to genuinely chat and learn about what I wanted out of my future."
To current Ennovar students, Colby encourages making the most of every opportunity the program offers. “Leverage everything at your disposal. Those in leadership and the teams around you are invested in your success, and are often happy to help support you however possible.”
