Overview

Dr. Raina M. Rutti is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Management in the W. Frank Barton School of Business. In addition to teaching courses in Management, Entrepreneurship, and International Business, she is the inaugural Director of the Widener Global Leaders program.

Throughout her academic career, Dr Rutti has maintained an interest in many different fields, implementing a multi-disciplinary approach into her teaching style. She has collaborated with colleagues across disciplines to develop different courses, integrating various business disciplines, psychology, communications, biology, and history. Dr. Rutti has taught on study abroad programs in China and Peru, and organized programs in Morocco and Germany. She developed opportunities for students to visit corporate offices of Porsche and Mercedes in Germany and created partnerships with Journey Beyond Travel in Morocco.  

Dr. Rutti earned her PhD in Organizational Behavior with a cognate in Social Psychology from the University of South Carolina. While there, she held a research fellowship with the Army Research Institute for Behavioral and Social Sciences at Fort Jackson. Prior to coming to Wichita State, Dr. Rutti was a tenured Associate Professor of Management and Department Chair for Management and Marketing at Dalton State College in northwest Georgia.  During a sabbatical, she spent 6 months in Morocco, teaching at Al Akhawayn University in Ifran.

Her research interests include leadership, cross-cultural management, and issues in international business and emerging markets. Dr. Rutti has published research in Journal of World Business, International Journal of Entrepreneurship and Small Business, Leadership and Organization Development, as well as others.  She also publishes pedagogical articles focusing on high impact practices such as service learning, application-based projects, and study abroad.
