Overview

Jennifer Akers is a Wichita native and WSU alumni. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Master’s degree in Sociology. While working with datasets exploring demographics, behavior, and socioeconomic differences, Jennifer realized she enjoyed transforming data, analyzing it, and using it to find compelling insights and tell a story.

Jennifer started her data science career at AccuWeather analyzing datasets for various industries and use cases including retail, supply chain, manufacturing, insurance, and many more alongside weather data to understand weather’s impact. She transitioned to Ascension, a healthcare company, where she applied the data science process to predict turnover, analyze Ascension employees, and supported cloud migration. Jennifer also worked for Delta Bravo AI specializing in manufacturing use cases for machine learning and AI. She’s worked for many Fortune 500 companies, helping them transform and understand their data and build machine learning solutions to help them predict failures, optimize processes, reduce scrap, and improve their supply chain.

Jennifer is passionate about data and enjoys taking a “messy” dataset and molding it into something useful for analysis. Jennifer is also ardent about student success and career development and works with students to help guide them on their journey as data professionals.
