Overview

Sirana Jamkartanian is a French and Arabic lecturer at Wichita State University. Coming from Lebanon, she speaks Arabic, French, English and Armenian.

Jamkartanian received her degree in Journalism and Mass Media in 1986, and worked as a reporter for the Lebanese Presidential Palace in Lebanon for 8 years. Meanwhile, she also worked as a journalist for 13 years for various political newspapers and magazines. After her arrival in the States, she hosted the talk show, “The Sirana Show,” in Wichita, Kansas, for three years. She has been an active advocate for women, diversity, and cultural issues.

In 2010, Jamkartanian started teaching intermediate French at Wichita State University. In 2011, she created the Arabic program for the Modern and Classical Languages and Literatures Department. She has taught French 111, 112 and 210 as well as Arabic 111 and 112.

In 2016, Jamkartanian was selected to develop, implement and teach the online French 111, 112 and 210 courses.
