Overview

Julie Henderson is a Fairmount Lecturer and the Undergraduate Coordinator and Advisor for MCLL. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in International Politics and Management, with minors in Spanish and French, and a Master of Arts in Spanish, both from Wichita State University.  She is a professional translator certified by the American Translators Association.

After graduating from WSU, she went to Santiago, Chile, where she lived for 24 years, raising her three children and enjoying an extensive career as a translator. During that time, she did financial and legal translation work for such companies as Walmart Chile, Fitch Ratings, and HSBC Bank.  Upon her return to the U.S. in 2011, Henderson worked as an interpreter locally both in the Sedgwick County Courts and in medical settings while she earned her MA in Spanish.

Henderson is a member of the Sigma Delta Pi Spanish Honors Society and MICATA, the Mid-America Chapter of the American Translators Association. She has traveled extensively throughout Chile, as well as to Argentina, Peru, Uruguay, Paraguay, Mexico, France, Spain, and Great Britain.
