Overview

Dr. Michael Birzer is a professor and graduate coordinator in the School of Criminal Justice. He also serves as the Director of the Undergraduate Research and Creative Activity Hub which is a unit of the Dorothy and Bill Cohen Honors College.  

Dr. Birzer engages in research centering on police policy, behavior, and operations, and the intersection of race and policing. Prior to entering academia, he served a career in law enforcement, retiring at the rank of lieutenant.
