Overview

Dr. Kristin Weber is the instructor of Oboe for Wichita State University and principal oboist of the Wichita Symphony Orchestra in Wichita, Kansas. She also holds positions in the Tulsa Symphony, Tulsa Opera, the Symphony of Northwest Arkansas, and the Boulder Philharmonic.

She performed as the associate principal oboe with the Colorado Symphony in the summer of 2019. She has also performed in the Grand Teton Music Festival (Wyoming) and Music in the Mountains festival (Colorado).

As the grand prize winner of the Ekstrand Competition, she performed as a soloist in recital at Carnegie Hall in 2018. Previous recording work includes performing as principal oboe in the 2018 Indigo Girls album, and oboe on the sound track for the Emmy nominated documentary “Love Bugs” by Allison Otto & Mark Crawford.

Kristin received her undergraduate degree (BM) from the University of Illinois, her master’s degree (MM) from the University of Missouri Kansas City (UMKC), and her doctorate (DMA) from Colorado University (CU Boulder). Her teachers include Peter Cooper, Jason Lichtenwalter, Kristina Fulton, Barbara Bishop, and John Dee. 

In her free time Kristin enjoys spending time with her corgi (Nugget), hiking in Colorado, and photography.
