Overview

Darin Kater has been with the Wichita State University Foundation since 2008. Before becoming Vice President of Development, Darin served as Director of Development for Planned Giving, Senior Director of Development for Planned Giving and Annual Fund, and Associate Vice President for Development. In his current role, Darin oversees the Foundation’s major gift development team. This group of fundraising professionals connects generous donors to the needs of the university.

Prior to the WSU Foundation, Darin worked in higher education for seventeen years. During this time, he held several roles spanning the areas of admissions, student services, academic programming and teaching, alumni relations, and university advancement.

Darin earned his Bachelor of Science in Business/Art and Master of Science in Management from Friends University and completed his coursework for certification as an Emergency Medical Technician from Wichita State University. His volunteer interests have included coaching youth sports and serving in various teaching and administrative roles in his church. Darin has held memberships with the Partnership for Philanthropic Planning, Wichita Estate Planning Council, Council for the Advancement and Support of Education, and Rotary Club of East Wichita.

An avid runner, Darin can be spotted running on campus either during his lunch hour or after work. He is married to Tara, a high school English teacher, and they have adult two daughters. Their oldest daughter, Lauren, and her husband, David, are both graduates of WSU. Their younger daughter, Rachel, coaches collegiate women’s volleyball in Arizona.
