Senior: Barnes continued the success from his sophomore season in the 2022-2023 season. He averaged 209 over the course of 50 games while bowling in nine events. He finished in the top ten at the SWIBC V & VI events. At the end of the season, Barnes played an integral role bowling in the fourth spot as the Shockers bringing home the 13th National Championship in school history.

Junior: Barnes earned a spot on the selected team through tryouts in the fall. Barnes competed in 10 events and averaged 215 over 51 games. During the season, he was named to the All-Tournament Team twice, placing second at the SWIBC V and first at the SWIBC IV. At the end of the season, Barnes was named an NCBCA First Team All American. Barnes was part of the PBA Collegiate Invitational championship team as well as the 2022 ITC Runner Up Team.

Sophomore: Barnes joined the Shocker Bowling program as part of the developmental team and averaged 189 over 15 games across three events.

Personal: Barnes is the son of Chris and Lynda Barnes and has a twin brother, Troy. Chris and Lynda both competed on the professional tour. Chris is also a graduate of Wichita State. Barnes played basketball throughout high school at Denton Guyer High School. In January 2022, Ryan competed at Team USA Trials in Las Vegas and earned a spot on Junior Team USA 2022. Over the summer, he finished second at the Junior Gold Championships to earn a spot on Junior Team USA 2023. Barnes’ high game is 300 (13 times) and high series is 866 (15 800+ series).
