Overview

Kailamai Nguyen is one of the social services case manager & advocate within Student Outreach & Support at Wichita State University. She enjoys being part of the CARE team as caring for others has always been a passion of hers. Kailamai was appointed as a youth advocate with the Idaho Juvenile Justice Commission for six years and was a leader within the Idaho Foster Youth Advisory Board for seven years. After college Kailamai worked as a program specialist with the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare overseeing the statewide higher education program for foster youth.

After experiencing foster care herself, Kailamai committed to making the system better for those who would come after her. She attributes her success in adulthood largely to higher education and believes education can break the cycle and create opportunities for students they would not get otherwise. She supports strong community for students and is eager to assist in giving them the best chance to succeed.

Kailamai recently moved to Kansas to be closer to family and is looking forward to getting to know the state more. In her free time, Kailamai enjoys adventures with her husband Chris and her beloved Husky, Addie Bee.
