Bio

Max Duong serves as the Graduate Student Experience Director for the 69th Session of the Student Government Association. Director Duong joined SGA because he believes that student leadership means creating opportunities for students to have their voices heard and needs recognized. As a graduate student himself, he understands the challenges of balancing coursework, professional responsibilities, assistantships, and life outside the university. Director Duong wants to advocate for graduate students and other populations whose experiences may not always be centered and facilitate a supporting community for them. Within this position, he aspires to better understand institutional decision-making and turn student concerns into meaningful change.

Goal

Director Duong's goals for this session are:

  • Retention and Institutional Pride - Help graduate students see the value of their degrees while strengthening their pride in the university's community and culture.
  • Wellness and Belonging - Expand graduate students' awareness of healthcare resources and burnout prevention, especially for those balancing coursework with work, family or assistantships.
  • Student Engagement and Support - Increase graduate student visibility and engagement with identity and interest-based Recognized Student Organizations to support personal, academic, and professional development. As well as promote campus resources and offices that support military-affiliated students, transfer graduate students, online students, adult learners, and student parents.
