To request assistance with a customized searching please contact funding@wichita.edu.   If any of the following opportunities are of interest to you, please email proposals@wichita.edu as soon as possible so that a grant specialist may be assigned to assist. The Office of Research has updated its website with more information about the deadlines for receipt of proposals.  While mandatory forms must be finalized well in advance of the funder deadline, you may continue to focus on your proposal narrative until closer to the deadline.  Please visit Pre-Award Services to find out more.

***Limited*** Funding Agency: U.S. Department of Energy (DOE)

Title: Research Development and Partnership Pilot (RDPP)

Application Deadline: ***Limited*** Because WSU may only submit two applications, Notices of Intent to apply must be sent to proposals@wichita.edu by March 21 at 12noon in case an internal competition is needed.  If selected to move forward, applications to the funder will be due April 20, 2022

Purpose: “A goal of this funding opportunity is to foster the development of climate, Earth, and environmental science research and training capacity at underrepresented institutions. To do this, the funding opportunity fosters engagement between underrepresented institutions and national laboratories and universities currently participating in the DOE’s climate, Earth, and environmental sciences research supported by the Biological and Environmental Research (BER) program. Title: Request for Proposals: Dynabench Data Collection and Benchmarking Platform

Application Deadline: March 23, 2022

Purpose: “Meta AI is pleased to invite university faculty to respond to this call for research proposals about the Dynabench platform. Launched in 2020, Dynabench is a research platform for dynamic data collection and benchmarking.  Static benchmarks have well-known issues. They saturate quickly, are susceptible to overfitting, contain exploitable annotator artifacts and have unclear or imperfect evaluation metrics. The Dynabench platform is a scientific experiment to answer the question: Can we make faster progress if we collect data dynamically, with humans and models in the loop, rather than in the old-fashioned static way? The aim is to continuously challenge existing benchmarking dogma and try to embrace dynamic solutions at all times.”

Title: Engaging Communities to Design Nature-based Solutions to Mitigate Climate-related Hazards

Application Deadline: April 8, 2022

Purpose: “The Gulf Research Program (GRP) addresses the health and resilience challenges of US Gulf Coast communities that are disproportionately impacted by climate change. One approach the GRP is taking to address these challenges is to build the capacity of communities to mitigate future climate risks. Though there are numerous resources available to assist communities in becoming more resilient to climate impacts, these resources often do not reach or benefit those communities most at-risk. In addition, much of the available funding is directed toward traditional mitigation measures (e.g., dams, levees, floodwalls) rather than alternate strategies such as nature-based solutions (NBS), and many communities do not have the subject matter expertise to develop strategies that include NBS.  This funding opportunity focuses on the importance of NBS as part of a strategy to mitigate climate-related hazards. Specifically, this opportunity will fund collaborations between subject matter experts and local or tribal governments that engage diverse groups of community stakeholders to adapt an existing or design a new project that incorporates one or more NBS.”
