Purpose: “Accelerator Stewardship Topic Areas are focused R&D efforts aimed at solving a specific accelerator application problem in a specific area. The desired end goal after one to two (1-2) grant cycles (e.g., three to six (3-6) years) is a working prototype technology at TRL-4. This Track has broad eligibility requirements, see Section II.A for more information. Teams, comprising at a minimum of an accelerator technology partner and an application partner, are expected to apply in this area, and develop an application that clearly defines the technology development pathway, teaming and management plan, IP allocation, and market opportunity (where applicable). The following four topic areas are active in Track 1 of this NOFO: a) Particle Therapy Beam Delivery Improvements (renewal applications only); b) Ultrafast Laser Technology Program; c) High Power Electron Accelerator Technology for Industrial Applications; and d) Compact Accelerator Technologies for Security and Medicine.”

Purpose: “The Autism & Neuroscience division at the Simons Foundation is accepting applications for funding of conferences and courses. This year, conferences and courses that align with the scientific missions of any of the following programs will be prioritized: Simons Foundation Autism Research Initiative (SFARI), with a mission to advance the basic science of autism and related neurodevelopmental disorders, Simons Collaboration on Plasticity and the Aging Brain (SCPAB), with a focus on healthy cognitive aging, Simons Collaboration on Ecological Neuroscience (SCENE), with a focus on understanding how interacting with the world shapes representations in the brain and mind, and the Simons Collaboration on the Global Brain (SCGB), with a focus on the fields of systems and computational neuroscience.”

The DARPA Lift Challenge will be held in the Summer 2026, at a location to be announced on the Challenge website.”

CNMS is a DOE Office of Science Nanoscale Science Research Center that provides researchers from universities, national laboratories, and industry access to world-class facilities for nanoscale science and engineering.”
Amount: Projects selected through the peer-reviewed proposal process will receive no-cost access to CNMS facilities and scientific staff support for open, publishable research.

Title: Building Solar Understanding and Risk Education (B-SURE)
Application Deadline: May 13, 2026
Purpose: “The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Critical Minerals and Energy Innovation (CMEI), through a Partnership Intermediary Agreement (PIA) with TechWerx is seeking to partner with consumer protection organizations for the Building Solar Understanding and Risk Education (B-SURE) program. This $3 million opportunity will help consumer protection organizations design and deliver education and training on solar energy for consumers and professionals that support them. The effort aims to enable informed consumer choice and protect consumers as they navigate the rooftop solar industry from initial inquiry to disposal.”

Purpose: “…will support researchers with a strong track record of success and achievement in their current field, and a deep interest, curiosity and drive to make contributions to a new discipline. The fellowship will enable today’s brightest minds to apply their talents and expertise to a new field and will consist of one training year where the fellow will be embedded in a lab of a mentor to learn the new discipline and its culture.”
Amount: A Pivot Fellowship provides one year of salary support for the fellow’s academic-year salary, and a $10,000 research, travel and professional development allowance during the fellowship training year.

REMINDER: Learn to Use BeoShock for your Advanced Research Computing Needs
Wichita State University continues to host Beoshock, a High-Performance Computing Cluster (HPC). This HPC is available and free to faculty members, researchers and students engaged in course work or research activities. BeoShock runs the CentOS Linux operating system and features approximately 720 processor cores, two high memory compute nodes with 1.5 terabytes of memory, and four graphics processing unit (GPU) accelerators. BeoShock also has a variety of software tools that may be helpful in your research endeavors, such as Matlab,Mathematica, R, Python and many more.

“As part of its ongoing efforts to increase efficiency and minimize applicant burden, NIH is updating the required elements of a DMS Plan. This notice supersedes NOT-OD-21-014. A DMS Plan must reflect the proposed approach to data management and sharing at the time it is prepared and must be updated throughout the life of the project, as appropriate. NIH encourages data management and sharing practices to be consistent with the FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable) data principles and reflect best practices within specific research communities.”

REMINDER - ORCID ID – Persistent Digital Identifiers for Researchers
ORCID is an international, interdisciplinary, open, non-proprietary, and not-for-profit organization created by the research community for the benefit of all stakeholders, providing a persistent digital identifier (an ORCID iD) that distinguishes researchers with record that supports automatic links among all professional activities. A researcher’s ORCID iD and connections are stored in the ORCID Registry, in an account owned and managed by individual researchers. The WSU Office of Research recommends that Researchers set up their ORCID if they have not already, as some federal funders may require the use of an ORCID as part of a researcher’s biographical sketch or CV.

Wichita Public Schools (USD 259) requests a minimum of 30 business days to process letters of support or participation in research. It is WSU’s responsibility to have appropriate support from the school(s)/personnel that will be involved in the project prior to submitting a request. Letters of Support/Grant Proposals: WSU personnel who need a letter of support or USD259 participation on a grant proposal, should complete the External-Request for Grant Support form and are encouraged to reach out directly to Holly Wilson at hwilson@usd259.net early in the process for questions/clarification. Research Requests: WSU personnel who want to conduct research in USD 259 are encouraged to reach out directly to Katelyn Schoenhofer at kschoenhofer1@usd259.net early in the process for questions/clarifications.
As a reminder, all proposals submitted on behalf of WSU must be reviewed by the Office of Research prior to submission. This includes proposals where WSU is a direct recipient of funds and proposals where WSU is a proposed subawardee/subcontractor.
