Description of Executive Committee Offices
(Note: For all positions, the general requirement is an F-1 or J-1 Visa Status and
enrollment as a full-time student at Wichita State University for the duration of
the term of office. For certain positions, specific requirements are listed separately)
President
- Schedule and chair meetings of the Executive Committee as well as summon any necessary emergency meetings.
- Oversee the work done by each of the other Executive Committee Officers and their Committees.
- Delegate assignments to each officer
- Keep track of the tasks being accomplished by each of the other officers
- Ensure that tasks are being accomplished in a timely manner.
- Give direction and advice to Executive Committee members.
- Take responsibility for tasks needed by organization not assigned to other officers.
- Act as main ISU representative to the University at large.
Special Requirements:
- A minimum of one prior year of full-time enrollment at WSU.
- A minimum of one semester of demonstrated active participation in ISU activities.
Vice-President
- Function as the President when the President is not actively available
- Work with each of the Directors ensuring that tasks are being carried out according to scheduled deadlines.
- Take responsibility for tasks needed by organization not assigned to Directors or their committee members.
Secretary
- Keep minutes of each meeting, type and e-mail minutes to advisors, officers and each International Student Association Representative in timely manner.
- Send announcements of special meetings and reminders of all meetings to ISU Executive Committee.
- Check ISU e-mail regularly and either respond or forward message to appropriate officer.
- Correspond with individuals/committees/organizations on behalf of ISU.
- Write and coordinate mass e-mails with the Office of International Education.
Treasurer
- Create an overall budget for academic year.
- Prepare budgets for each ISU event/activity/need.
- Maintain receipts and any financial documents necessary for SGA.
- Collect funds from Student Associations when appropriate.
- Provide oral Treasurer’s report at each ISU meeting and provide written report at least once a month to all Executive Committee members at meeting.
- Prepare overall financial report of ISU at the end of academic year
Director of Events
- Create committees to work on each ISU activity.
- Assign tasks and deadlines to committee chairs/members.
- Oversee the work of each committee ensuring that tasks are being carried out according to scheduled deadlines
Director of Publicity
? Set up an overall plan of publicizing ISU for academic year.
? Set up a standard plan that will serve to publicize each ISU activity, event and
need of ISU.
? Customize standard publicity plan if and where necessary for each event.
? Execute and assess publicity plans.
Director of Outreach
? Set up an overall plan of working with WSU offices, student organizations and the
larger Wichita Community.
? Work closely with Newsletter Editor and Director of Newsletter Marketing
? Execute and assess outreach plans.
Director of Development
? Set up an overall plan of increasing ISU participation and resources.
? Create a list of ISU donors (in-kind and cash)
? Raise funds and resources for ISU activities as and when necessary
Director of Academics
? Plan, organize and execute at least one academic activity for international students
every Fall and/or Spring Semester.
? Establish liaison with International Faculty members at WSU.
? Help publicize WSU Honors Program to international undergraduates.
? Manage a resource for academic help for international students at WSU
Newsletter Editor
? Develop a rationale, target audience and principles to guide an ISU quarterly newsletter
for the school year.
? Solicit and edit articles for the ISU newsletter.
? Produce and publish quarterly newsletters for WSU community.
? Oversee the distribution of ISU newsletters.
Website Manager
? Monitor and update the ISU website weekly.
? Improve and extend upon the design and use of the ISU website.
? Update regularly ISU webpage on the Center for Student Leadership website.
Special Requirements:
• Strong computer and website building skills.
• A laptop with internet connection.
• Need to attend Departmental tools training offered by WSU.
Director of Newsletter Marketing
? Solicit advertisements for ISU newsletter.
? Maintain ongoing relationships with customers.
? Edit advertisements.

Representatives
? Represent special interests (such as people with disabilities, non-traditional
students, dependents of students (such as those on F-2 visas), certain countries,
cultures, etc.)
