(A summary of Support Services are also available by clicking on “Student Resources” at the top of the page).

The Office of Student Success is committed to promoting Wichita State University's retention and graduation goals by creating and coordinating campus-wide initiatives that facilitate student success. We define student success broadly and aim to enhance it in all its forms: learning, earning good grades, staying in school, graduating in a timely fashion and being satisfied with the WSU experience.

We offer the following services and resources: WSU 101, Supplemental Instruction and Tutoring, Student Early Alert System, Student Success Plans, Study Skills Workshops, the Office for Student Money Management and MyCollegeMoneyPlan.org. Link to the Office of Student Success for more information on how our academic support services and resources can help you succeed in this course.

Additionally, the Student Support Services program at Wichita State University provides assistance to first-generation, low-income students and students with disabilities, focusing on helping WSU students reach their academic goals, stay in school and graduate. Students can receive services after completing an enrollment form, meeting with an SSS academic advisor, and identifying which services will be most beneficial based on several assessments. The program is federally funded through the U.S. Department of Education. Link to Student Support Services for more information on how these services can help your academic success.

Student Safety

Providing a safe and secure environment for the WSU community is a top priority and many people are working daily to make sure we are doing all we can as a university. We must all work together to make our campus safe. It is important to remember that we are all responsible for creating and maintaining a safe and secure campus environment, and your assistance is greatly appreciated. In this regard, the university has developed multiple resources for the safety of our students and community.

  • The purpose of the University’s Behavior Intervention Team (UBIT) is to apply a multidisciplinary approach to preventing individuals from harming themselves or others, and generally to assist persons in need. These persons include members of the University community as well as community members who may pose a threat and or disruption to our campus community. UBIT accepts referrals and incident reports from any person who is concerned about the health or safety of a WSU student, employee, visitor, or the campus community at large. Once this form is submitted, members of UBIT will review the information and take appropriate action, which may or may not include contacting you, the reported/referred person, and any others you have identified that may have relevant information or who may have been impacted by the reported/referred person. If you wish to make an anonymous report, the team will evaluate the report and determine what follow up (if any) is necessary to address the reported concerns. The UBIT Reporting Form has been updated and can be found at https://publicdocs.maxient.com/reportingform.php?WichitaStateUniv&layout_id=2. However, if you have any concerns regarding an immediate threat, call the WSU Police Department directly at 316-978-3450 or dial 911. Please visit the main UBIT web page to learn more about the group at https://wichita.edu/?u=ubit&p=/index.
  • Our Campus Safety Web Page is an excellent, comprehensive resource that provides information on many different types of events. Go to www.wichita.edu/safety.
  • Our campus has purchased a suite of six training videos that deal with violence on campus and in the workplace, with an active shooter situation on campus and in the workplace among them. Please take time to watch all training videos and educate yourself on what to do in the event of such situations. Go to http://webapps.wichita.edu/campussafety/menu.aspx#.
