General Printing Policy

Office of Diversity and Inclusion Computer Lab

This printing policy applies to all students who utilizes the Office of Diversity and Inclusion for their printing needs, as well as any guests of the Office of Diversity and Inclusion who may be using Wichita State University’s networks and equipment.

For questions about this policy, please contact the Office of Diversity and Inclusion at (316) 978-3034.

  1. University policy prohibits duplication or replication of copyrighted materials without express authorization and consent of the author of owner of copyrighted material.
  2. To eliminate excessive/abusive printing and become more environmentally friendly, the Office of Diversity and Inclusion has implemented a 10 sheets per day printing quota for individual (student) printing.
  3. If you print something, please pick it up in a timely fashion. If you no longer want it, please dispose of it appropriately (i.e. recycle or shred).
  4. If you come across an unclaimed print job, please do not take it. All unclaimed output jobs will be discarded after 30 minutes.
  5. Make efforts to limit paper usage by taking advantage of optimization features (e.g. printing six PowerPoint slides per page versus only one per page). Unfortunately, duplex printing is prohibited in the computer lab.
  6. Avoid printing large files, as this puts a drain on network resources and interferes with the ability of others to use the printer.
  7. Students are limited to print up to TEN (10) sheets of paper (front only). PaperCut will warn the student if a print job exceeds more than 10 sheets.
  8. Avoid printing email messages. This is wasteful; instead, use your personal drive and archiving functionality in your email application to organize and view your messages.
  9. It is encouraged to avoid printing a document just to see what it looks like, unless it is for proofing purposes.
  10. When using recycled paper, please take out all pages that are covered in ink (such as images and test print pages).
  11. Color printing is typically not provided to individual (student) printing.
  12. If the printer is out of paper, please notify a staff member in the office to refill it. This also applies to low toner warnings.
  13. Please do not open the printer drawer and take paper from the tray. We understand you may need scratch paper for notes, etc.; however, to conserve the environment, we allow you to take any used/recycled paper
  14. Free printing is a privilege - which can be taken away if abused.

Students are given an allotment of 10 sheets (front only) per day each day through the use of the computer lab. As the systems will be running on PaperCut servers, there is a customized system for the Office of Diversity and Inclusion that restricts students from printing more than 10 sheets per day (the printer defines each side of a paper a sheet).

FREE PRINTOUTS (up to 10 sheets per day):

  • RSC-Room208-Limited-B&W

ADDITIONAL PRINTOUTS ($0.10 per sheet of paper):

  • RSC-Room208-Printer1-B&W

There will be no exception for any color printing given to the individual (student) printing. Copies using the all-purpose machine are not permitted to the student whatsoever. Scanning is not a service that the office has to provide. However, scanning may be available upon contingency of available staff to cover the front reception area.

Exceptions to the policy must be approved by the staff of the Office of Diversity and Inclusion.
