Lifetime Achievement Award Winners 

The purpose of the Lifetime Achievement Award is to recognize an individual’s achievements in outstanding leadership in public finance over the course of their career.

Innovation Award Winner

The Innovation Award is designed to recognize and promote creative public finance initiatives and projects that provide innovative and creative solutions to address organizational and community challenges.
 

Natalie Morrison, Manager of Financial Planning and Analysis, WaterOne
Award Submission: Natalie developed a billing impact statement which provided clarification for customers on how a rate change would impact them directly. This is unique to the industry. This consumption analysis provided the data required to take a deeper dive into an affordability analysis.

For KSGFOA Mike will share some of his Local Government Life Lessons including The Leadership and Legacy component of public service, The Success Skills of Public Servants and The Importance of Community Engagement on important topics like our annual budgets.

Building & maintaining infrastructure is a key function of local government. Although the municipal bond is a sturdy foundation for infrastructure capital, the current budget environment requires relying on new sources of funds to maintain communities. What are local finance officers making work today?

Silver tsunami, brain drain, workforce cliff – these are all terms that have been used to describe the number of baby boomers in the government workforce at or near retirement age and who will soon be exiting. As a result, many will be taking years of valued leadership, knowledge and experience with them. Many governmental organizations have decided to proactively address the issue, while others react and scramble to mitigate critical losses.
