1. What excites you most about joining the PPMC?
The PPMC has a tremendous history of working alongside community partners to identify and address community and social issues. I’m particularly excited to have the opportunity to complete research which will evaluate the impact of programs and services and to help develop innovative ways to meet community and organizational needs. Plus, I get to work with an amazing and dedicated team!
2. Who in public service inspires you?
I am inspired by Stacey Abrams from Georgia. She has demonstrated that vital change happens not only through elected officials, but also through the boots on the ground. She has worked to lay a foundation in order to bring about change, that is not aimed at promoting her own ambitions, but rather at improving her community, state, and country. I want to be apart of similar efforts by ensuring the decision makers have accurate and timely data in front of them and such data is accessible to the public. I also feel so lucky to have the opportunity to follow in my predecessor, Lisa Dodson’s, footsteps in doing that work at the PPMC.
3. Why is public service important to you?
I love the Margaret Mead quote, “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has.” I have been blessed by where I live and the educational and professional opportunities available to me. I believe it is up to me (and indeed each of us) to find a way to give back and to contribute to the greater good. Public service allows me the chance to be apart of the challenging work done in our communities which makes a difference for everyone.
4. What’s your favorite place to eat in Wichita?
