Meet Larry Daniels, a Program Manager for the PPMC and our newest team member! Larry leads the Wichita Literacy Coalition and has a passion for diversity, equity, and inclusion.
What excites you most about joining the PPMC?
I’m most excited about learning all the areas the PPMC is involved in the community. From mental health to literacy, the PPMC has a hand in so many diverse projects that really serve the greater Wichita community. As a recent transplant to Wichita, I feel incredibly grateful to be a part of an organization that wants to help its community thrive. Is there a better way to get to know your new home?
Who in public service inspires you?
My sister, Alanna Fields, is one of my biggest inspirations. She has been a teacher for 20 years, and I have never met someone more dedicated to serving her students than her. Starting as a Special Education teacher for mild to moderate learning disabilities to creating the International Baccalaureate program for her school, she is constantly setting an example of what it means to set her students up for success. I owe a lot of the person I am today to watching her do everything she does.
Why is public service important to you?
I have a strong belief that public service is the key to building stronger communities and creating wonderful places for people of all walks of life to exist. It is the ultimate example of selfless actions for the betterment of the greater good.
What’s your favorite place to eat in Wichita?
I’m still figuring out where all the good spots are, but I’d have to say I keep finding reasons to go to George’s and Vora!
