CEREAL MALT BEVERAGE/ALCOHOLIC LIQUOR POLICIES

CEREAL MALT BEVERAGE

The Rhatigan Student Center holds a Cereal Malt Beverage (CMB) license only for the Rec Center. Customers wishing to serve 3.2% beer in any other area of the RSC must obtain a temporary license from the City of Wichita, by applying for one at City Hall Express, in the City building on North Main street. Once a group has obtained a CMB license, they must provide a copy of the license to University Dining Service for their records. When these steps have been completed, the following policies will be enforced:

  1. University Dining Services is in charge of checking individuals to insure all are of legal drinking age, and for providing & dispensing the 3.2% beer and collecting monies.
  2. No persons under 21 years of age are allowed to possess or to consume 3.2% beer at any event at which these beverages are served or sold.
  3. If an event is open to the public, the sponsoring group may not purchase 3.2% beer and then give it away to attendees.
  4. University Dining Service must make available, a non-alcoholic beverage at events where 3.2% beer is served.
  5. Consumption of 3.2% beer is permitted only within the approved area designated for the event.
  6. For events scheduled in the Rec Center, the sponsoring group must purchase the 3.2% beer from the Rec Center. It is the Rec Center's responsibility for checking individuals to insure all are of legal drinking age, and for providing & dispensing the 3.2% beer and collecting monies.

ALCOHOLIC LIQUOR

Board of Regents policy states that alcoholic liquor may be served only at luncheons, dinners or receptions which occur in connection with official university events and/or fund-raising activities for university programs. The service of alcoholic liquor at such events must be approved in advance by the President of the University, or the President's designee. The service of alcoholic liquor in circumstances other than above is prohibited unless approved by the University President, or the President's designee.

Policies for serving alcoholic liquor in the Rhatigan Student Center are as follows:

  1. A letter of approval from the President or his designee must be provided to University Dining Service for their records.
  2. University Dining Service is responsible for dispensing all alcoholic liquor in the RSC. The sponsoring group must provide the alcoholic liquor to University Dining Service for serving. The sponsoring group must purchase the setups, bartender service, etc. from University Dining Service.
  3. At all events in which alcoholic liquor is approved for use, a non-alcoholic beverage must also be made available to attendees.
  4. Food must be made available at all functions where alcoholic liquor is served.
  5. Alcoholic liquor may not be served at an event that is open to the public. Alcoholic liquor may not be sold to attendees of an event.
  6. Alcoholic liquor may not be served to persons under the age of 21.
