Meet Josh Storm

After moving to New Jersey at age seven, Josh is back in his hometown as a freshman aerospace engineering student. From joining a fraternity to being part of the Spirit Squad, he likes to stay active on campus. Learn more about Josh and why he loves Wichita State.

What has been your favorite experience at Wichita State so far?
My favorite experience has probably been meeting a new group of people when I joined a fraternity. It’s a different sort of group dynamic than anything else I’ve ever experienced before – just the closeness of everyone in the organization.

What organizations or activities are you involved with at WSU?
For activities, I’m in a fraternity, Delta Upsilon, and I am also part of the WSU Spirit Squad.

Where is your favorite spot to hang out on campus?
My favorite spot is probably at our chapter house for Delta Upsilon.

Who is a faculty or staff member at WSU that has had a positive impact on you?
My Calculus I teacher from last semester, Alexandra Echart. She was a great teacher and taught me some calculus. I felt more engaged in that class than most.

What’s your favorite part of campus life at Wichita State?
My favorite part is probably just being close to other people who share similar interests as me. Back home, if you wanted to go see someone you’d have to drive 20 minutes to their house or once every other week you’d be able to hang out with your friends. But here, it’s every day that you’re able to see people that you know.

What are you currently reading or watching that you are enjoying?
Right now, I am re-watching “Breaking Bad” for the second time. I enjoy viewing how all the characters change throughout the show. The two main characters, Walter and Jesse, they start out with Jesse being the stereotypical drop-out and Walter White the very straightforward chemistry teacher; he doesn't do anything bad. But I like getting to watch them as the series progresses, and see what they become at the end of the show.

Why did you choose to attend Wichita State?
When I was looking for aerospace engineering schools, there are not that many on the East Coast around where I live. I was faced with two options, I could go down to places like Florida or come back to the Midwest where I’m from and go to a place like KU or Wichita State. When I was looking at costs and knowing people in the area, Wichita State was the best choice for me.
