Precious Oyetunji

Meet Precious Oyetunji

He was born in Nigeria, spent most of his life in the Caribbean, and came to the U.S. a month ago; Precious is a freshman studying aerospace engineering. From playing two-truths-and-a-lie to watching the Super Bowl, he has had a fun start to his time at Wichita State.

What has been your favorite experience at Wichita State so far?
Orientation was fun. There were a few presentations, they also had a video about content and we played this “two truths, one lie” type of game.

What organizations or activities are you involved with at WSU?
I am in the African Caribbean Student Association and I want to join a few engineering clubs. I was going to go to a basketball game sometime in January, but I missed it. There’s also an eSports club that I want to join.

Where is your favorite spot to hang out on campus?
I like hanging out in the library on the top floor in the quiet zone.

Who is a faculty or staff member at WSU that has had a positive impact on you?
There’s someone who works at International Education, her name is Kristyn Smith. She is really friendly and nice. Before I came here, there’s a Facebook group for international students, so she made videos going around the colleges and showing us around campus.

What’s your favorite part of campus life at Wichita State?
I’ve played pool twice and I also watched the Super Bowl at The Flats on Sunday. I’d never watched the Super Bowl before. It didn't live up to the hype. It wasn't as exciting as everyone said it would be. I thought it would be more than it was.

What are you currently reading or watching that you are enjoying?
I just finished “Westworld” on HBO. It’s in the future and they make robots that look human, act human, to know they’re not human you have to open them. They’re very realistic. The people put them in a wild west world. Slowly, some of the robots become sentient and start remembering the bad things humans have done to them. The show makes you think about how in the future when we get to that point what are we going to do. It’s fun and good acting.

Why did you choose to attend Wichita State?
When I did my research, I saw that this was a good college for aerospace engineering so I decided to come here. I want to get an internship here eventually.
