Meet Sandeep Adhikari

Sandeep, a freshman studying computer science, arrived in Wichita a couple months ago. He likes to hang out at the Heskett Center, RSC, and Ablah Library. Learn more about Sandeep and why he chose Wichita State.

What has been your favorite experience at Wichita State so far?
I can include everything – the people, the activities, and the places to hang out. Definitely the quality of education here. I wouldn't get this level of education in our country, so it’s been good to have it here.

What organizations or activities are you involved with at WSU?
I haven't had the chance to get involved yet, but in the future I’d love to be involved with robotics or artificial intelligence and engineering groups in general. There’s the Nepalese Student Association and I want to get involved with that eventually.

Where is your favorite spot to hang out on campus?
The Heskett Center, the RSC, and the library. If I had to pick one spot, it would be the RSC. At the RSC you have food and activities and if you want to read something you can go upstairs and have a quiet environment. I can find pretty much everything here.

Who is a faculty or staff member at WSU that has had a positive impact on you?
First and foremost, I’d like to talk about Tonya Baldwin, an advisor in international education. She was very kind and helpful in the beginning, so I was inspired by her about how this place was going to be.

What’s your favorite part of campus life at Wichita State?
You never get bored. You always have something to do or hang out. There’s a lot of stuff to do or be involved with and I can find plenty of opportunities.

What are you currently reading or watching that you are enjoying?
I’ve been watching Big Bang Theory. It’s a combination of comedy and knowledge and is related to science. I enjoy the actors and the laughter they create. Every episode has at least one thing that goes wrong for the characters. Sheldon Cooper – the main character – always makes me laugh.

Why did you choose to attend Wichita State?
Since my major is related to engineering, I needed big labs and lots of opportunities. The diversity here is really good; I can find people from all over the world. I met some people from WSU in Nepal and they explained how the university works and it made me excited to be here.
