Gearing Up for Your Future...

At Wichita State University, GEAR UP programs help students prepare for college, careers, and future opportunities by providing academic support, college and career readiness activities, and resources for students and families.

GEAR UP stands for Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs.

Wichita State is home to four federally funded GEAR UP programs serving students and families in Wichita Public Schools (USD 259), Haysville Public Schools (USD 261), and communities across the state of Kansas. While each program serves a distinct group of students, they share a common purpose: expanding access to education and helping students prepare for success beyond high school.
