Elyssa Kreutzer’s applied learning experiences have allowed her to build a strong foundation in marketing, communications and event support while completing her business degree at Wichita State University.
Kreutzer, a senior marketing communications student at the Barton School of Business, has gained professional experience through Wichita State’s Technology Industry Engagement Group and the National Institute for Aviation Research (NIAR). She initially supported onboarding efforts before transitioning into marketing communications, an experience that eventually led her to Textron Aviation. There, she worked with the Global Events & Partnerships team before interviewing for a communications role. Her experiences and relationships within the organization ultimately led to two opportunities to continue growing with Textron Aviation: a communications co-op during the 2026–27 academic year and a full-time position following graduation.
“My summer with Textron Aviation went incredibly well,” Kreutzer said. “I was fortunate to receive both a co-op opportunity for the coming year and a full-time position after graduation. I’m grateful for the support and guidance from my peers and coworkers that helped lead to those opportunities.”
Beginning in August 2026, Kreutzer joined Textron Aviation’s communications team as a intern. Through May 2027, she will contribute to news releases, social media platforms, events, and other communications initiatives. In June 2027, she is scheduled to begin a full-time position as a communications associate with Textron Aviation in Wichita.
Her progression from on campus experiences to Textron Aviation, a co-op and then a full-time position demonstrates how applied learning can help students build professional relationships, strengthen their skills and create a pathway from the classroom to a career.
Along the way, Kreutzer has also remained active on campus. She previously served as an event coordinator for Shocker Racing Formula SAE and continues to contribute to the Wichita State American Marketing Association. Even with a demanding co-op ahead, she is looking for additional opportunities to volunteer, support student initiatives and contribute to the Wichita State community.
Kreutzer was also a member of Wichita State Cheer when the team won a national championship last year, marking a historic accomplishment for the program.
Kreutzer credits the Wichita State community, including the Shocker Career Accelerator team, NIAR and the Barton School of Business, with supporting and encouraging her throughout her professional journey.
“I truly appreciate all the support and encouragement the Shocker Career Accelerator and the Barton School’s Office of Career and Professional Development have provided along the way,” she said. “They have played a part in helping me get to where I am today, and I’m very grateful for that.”
Kreutzer’s experience shows what can happen when students combine their education with meaningful professional opportunities. Before completing her degree, she has already developed experience across Wichita State, NIAR and Textron Aviation, secured a yearlong co-op and accepted a full-time position in her chosen field.
