Storytelling in Content Production and Data Analysis: Nidhi Shenoy

Nidhi Shenoy is a graduate student pursuing her master’s degree in quantitative analysis and economics at Wichita State University. She earned her bachelor’s degree in journalism and economics from Mount Carmel College in May 2024. Since then, Shenoy has embraced every opportunity to bridge data analysis with storytelling.

In the summer of 2025, Shenoy became an essential part of internal communication at The Smart Factory by Deloitte. As an internal marketing intern, she played a key role in streamlining communication for thousands of employees. Drawing on her background in journalism and economics, Shenoy analyzed data and produced content for the experience team.

In her work, data analysis was more than just numbers — it revealed hidden connections and stories. To uncover these insights, she researched clients, summarized industry reports and tracked media engagement. Her work directly contributed to content strategies that guided production efforts.

Alongside market research, Shenoy was actively involved in content creation, assisting in the development and curation of internal marketing materials. These included internal newsletters, for which she drafted articles about clients and leadership updates. She also contributed to post-production by publishing content calendars for internal videos, gaining experience across the full content cycle.

Proficient in Adobe Audition and Premiere Pro, Shenoy was well-equipped to assist with podcast videos and external commercials. She expanded her video production skills by supporting commercial filming, editing and coordination. Throughout the process, she provided feedback on branding, messaging and storytelling, demonstrating her eye for detail.

“At Deloitte, I’ve seen how large firms handle branding and communication internally,” Shenoy said.

This summer internship coincided with an ongoing role at the National Institute for Aviation Research, which she began in February 2025.

At NIAR, as a graduate program assistant, Shenoy worked with the project management team, where teamwork is essential. In a team responsible for managing many moving parts, Shenoy’s sharp eye proved vital. She supported multiple teams with coordination, documentation, communication and scheduling across various projects.

“From NIAR, I’ve improved my project management and teamwork skills,” Shenoy said. “Both roles have sharpened my ability to balance details with the big picture.”

These applied learning experiences were made possible by the Applied Learning Fund. Through this funding, Shockers receive paid, career-relevant experiences.

“When I first started, I wasn’t sure how my mix of communication and technical skills would come together,” Shenoy said. “Now I’m much more confident in both professional communication and stakeholder management, using tools like Power BI, SPSS and Excel.”

Now in the final year of her master’s program, Shenoy has accumulated a wide range of experience in data analytics and media production. From her undergraduate studies to now, she has consistently bridged economics and media through internships, student organization roles and volunteer service. With graduation set for May 2026, Shenoy is well-prepared to pursue both of her passions.
