WICHITA, KANSAS (March 24, 2019)- The Wichita State University Student Government Association Elections Commission will host “Let Your Voice Be Heard” Week which includes the various Election Town Halls for Senatorial Candidates featuring College Deans and University Administrators as well as the 2019 Presidential and Vice Presidential Debate.

As the direct representatives of the student body, the Legislative Branch consists of the Senate and its standing committees (Budget and Finance, Safety and Student Services, Diversity Task Force, Organization Outreach). The Legislative Branch establishes policies through legislation, recognizes student organizations, confirms presidential nominations and allocates annually more than $9.5 million in student fees. These town halls are designed to provide a time for students to learn more about the candidates whom are running for office.

- 6:00 p.m. : Liberal Arts and Sciences Town Hall, featuring Dean Hippisley
- 8:00 p.m. : Graduate School Town Hall, featuring Interim Dean Wilks (canceled due to no withdrawn of candidates)

2019 Presidential and Vice Presidential Debate.
The Executive Branch consists of the Student Body President, Student Body Vice President, and the President's Cabinet. The President and Vice President are elected by the student body, while the Cabinet is appointed by the President and approved by the Senate. Executive Branch members are paid a fixed stipend throughout their term.
This year’s debate will feature the four presidential and vice presidential tickets, including, Julian Cornejo and Will Schindler (Unity Through Diversity), Isaac Rivera and Anisia Brumley (Perpetual), Kitrina Miller and Michael Bearth (Together We Can) and Reid Linot and Blake Christopherson (All Voices Heard). The candidates will debate on various topics of student life, shared governance, local, state and federal politics that are affecting higher education, and much more.
The 2019 Debate will be on Friday, March 30th starting at 6:30pm in the Campus Activities Center (CAC) Theater at Wichita State University.

The Student Government Association Election Commission is responsible for the administration of the Student Government Association Elections, as well as the administration of additional events at the discretion of the Election Commission that aim to promote the elections, inform the student body about the elections, provide the candidates with information, allow candidates an opportunity to promote themselves, or otherwise contribute to a fair, efficient, and publicized elections.
