WICHITA, KANSAS (March 26, 2019)- The Wichita State University Student Government Association Elections Commission has announced that the 61st Session of the Student Government Association has approved and submitted for a vote two constitutional amendments for the upcoming general election.
SB-61-013: Legislative Review Constitutional Amendments
The Student Government Association Senate has approved an amendment to the Constitution that was authored by Matthew Madden, Interim Vice President which contains only non functional changes to the SGA Constitution that simply fix things like spelling mistakes, inaccuracies, inconsistencies, and poor wording. Note that removed words have been stricken-through while words that have been added are italicized.
SB-61-076: Constitution Readjustment Act
The Student Government Association Senate has approved an amendment to the Constitution that was authored by Freshman Senator Gibson, Honors Senator Webb and Veterans Senator Bearth.
- The Amendment would decrease the number of days the Student Body President has to veto a piece of legislation
- Move the absence of the Vice President to the Bylaws
- Move the succession procedure to the Bylaws
- Eliminate the ability from the Student Body President to preside over the SGA without a quorum of Senators
Both SB-61-076 and SB-61-013 will be up for vote by the Wichita State University Student Body during elections from April 1-3 next week. Make sure you go out and Rock the Vote!
