Wichita, KS- Student Body President John Kirk has nominated Michael Bearth, who served as the Student Body Vice President during the 62nd Session, to the office of Vice President for the 65th Session.
President Kirk stated that when he first joined SGA, he saw that then Vice President Bearth “Put the caring back into SGA” and it had motivated him to stay. Furthermore, he believes that the experience provided by Bearth would help to bring structure, sustainability, and stability back to the Student Government Association.
Bearth acknowledged that the position of Vice President has changed significantly since his time in office; the Speaker of the Senate position has presided over Student Senate sessions for the last 3 sessions since his time in the Vice Presidency. However, with Bearth’s original service going back to his time as the Veteran’s Senator during the 60th Session, he believes that he can provide a blend of experiences that serve him, and the student body, in office once more.
“SGA has been fluctuating through some of these changes […] I hope to provide a bridge from past experience to the new to gain some stability with our team.”
Bearth will face confirmation before the Student Senate at their Legislative Session on September 21st.
