Wichita, KS- President Adamson has selected Kian Williams, current chair of the Government Relations Committee, as his Vice Presidential candidate. After meeting with Williams in an interview, Adamson stated:
“He has demonstrated strong leadership skills in the senate, along with a passion for the student body. Overall, I think that he is experienced in strategic engagement, and this will guide his thought processes during his term allowing us to maximize the utility of the student body.”
Adamson also mentioned his belief that Williams was one of the best candidates possible to strengthen a relationship with the Student Senate, as exemplified by his willingness to combine the work of both the Executive Branch and the Government Relations Committee towards the campus Farmer’s Market and his already present experience with Government Relations.
Williams stated that the success of the Farmer’s Market would be his top working priority.
“Our campus sits right in the middle of a food desert, and we must do what we can to provide affordable fresh food to our students and Community Members.”
Williams also provided comment on what he hoped his ascension into the Vice Presidency could do to benefit the cohesion of SGA, as his unique position as the Gov. Relations Chair gave him an opportunity to work with both the Legislative and Executive Branches prior.
“Internally, I’m excited to fix the relationship between the branches of SGA so we can finally rebuild our image with the student body. It’s time we focus on what we need to do to serve the student body and make their experience as enjoyable and memorable as possible.”
Williams will face confirmation before the Student Senate at their Legislative Session on September 14th, a week after the State of the Student Body Address on the 7th.
