Student Engagement & Belonging is thrilled to announce it has extended an invitation to Sigma Lambda Alpha Sorority, Inc. (SLA) for expansion at Wichita State University, with the formation of an interest group starting Fall of 2026.

Over the past year, a selection committee and members of the Fraternity & Sorority Life Community have reviewed and evaluated several national organizations to decide our next chapter to invite to campus. By inviting Sigma Lambda Alpha to establish a chapter at Wichita State, the university seeks to expand opportunities for students to connect with organizations that promote scholarship, service, cultural awareness, and personal growth. As part of the organization's establishment process, SLA will spend its first year on campus operating as an interest group known as ROSAS. During this developmental period, members will work closely with university staff, student leaders, and national organization representatives to build a strong foundation, demonstrate organizational sustainability, and cultivate chapter readiness before receiving an official charter from the national organization.

Sigma Lambda Alpha Sorority, Inc., was founded on October 20, 1992, at Texas Women’s University in Denton, Texas. Their Sisterhood was founded to better local communities, graduate from college and go out into the world and be agents of change. The outstanding women who form their sisterhood are true examples of a Señorita. Although Latina-based, SLA is a multiculturally accepting organization focusing on community service, academic achievement, cultural awareness, and sisterhood.
