The $9.5 million, 60,000-square-foot Law Enforcement Training Center houses Wichita State University's School of Criminal Justice and training classrooms and facilities for the Sedgwick County Sheriff Office and Wichita Police recruits. The building opened in January 2018.
The partnership between Wichita State University, the city of Wichita and Sedgwick County allows students to work side-by-side with law enforcement professionals on new initiatives, research, training, technical assistance and grant applications.
Amenities include:
- tactical training and fitness rooms;
- a 911 backup/training room;
- a crime scene incident room;
- quatermaster rooms for the Wichita Police Department and Sedgwick County Sheriff's Department;
- classrooms for WPD and Sheriff's Department;
- classrooms and offices for Wichita State's Criminal Justice program, the Regional Community Policing Institute and the Midwest Criminal Justice Institute.
