- The Office of General Counsel serves as the initiating authority for this policy.

Purpose
- The University has several Controlled Affiliated Organizations that were formed for
the purpose of enhancing or supporting the mission of the University. The purpose
of this policy is to provide notice and descriptions of the University's Controlled
Affiliated Organizations.

Policy
- The University is affiliated with the following Controlled Affiliated Organizations:
- Wichita State University Intercollegiate Athletic Association, Inc.
Wichita State University Intercollegiate Athletic Association is a Controlled Affiliated
Organization that was incorporated to schedule, manage, and promote University athletic
contests in harmony with the general education policy of the University.
- Wichita State University Union Corporation
Wichita State University Union Corporation is a Controlled Affiliated Organization
that was incorporated to promote the educational purposes of the University, and to
provide management and operational services and facilities for operating the Rhatigan
Student Center.
- Wichita State University Innovation Alliance, Inc.
Wichita State University Innovation Alliance is a Controlled Affiliated Organization
that was incorporated to oversee and manage the innovation campus and relationships
with public and private organizations that engage in innovation-based partnerships
to support the University's mission, and to facilitate the University's intellectual
property development, dissemination and licensing.
- WSIA Investments Corporation
WSIA Investments Corporation is a Controlled Affiliated Organization that was incorporated
to manage University-created intellectual property that is to be commercialized, to
license technology and receive royalties, identify and evaluate commercialization
projects, and manage the Innovation Campus.

Definitions
- For the purpose of this policy only, the following definitions shall apply:
- Affiliated Organization: An incorporated entity that is funded solely or primarily by monies other than state
funds and the purpose of which is to enhance or support the mission and activities
of the University.
- Controlled Affiliated Organization: An Affiliated Organization that the University or the University President has direct
or effective control over. Such control may be directly established through a majority
of a quorum of the governing board of the organization being made up of University
Employees or of members appointed by the University President; or through other effective
means that may include authority to appoint the chief executive officer of the organization
and/or the voting members of the organization's governing executive committee(s),
or control over the organizations daily operations and decision making process, or
by control over the public funds that support the organization.
