The Wichita State Dorothy and Bill Cohen Honors College is proud to announce eight recipients of the Koch Scholars program for the fall 2020 semester. Each of the students will receive between $30,000 and $45,000 during their four-year attendance at WSU.
Feb. 7, 2020 -- Austin Rea, a senior from Washburn Rural High School in Topeka, Kansas, has won the 2020 Wichita State University Clay Barton Scholarship.
Feb. 5, 2019 -- Bryant Lewis from Olathe Kansas received the Linwood Sexton Endowed Scholarship in 2019. The full-ride scholarship allowed him to pursue his dream of attending WSU.
Jan. 31, 2020 -- Wichita State University has selected the 2020 recipients of the Harry Gore Memorial Scholarships. Each student will receive a $64,000 scholarship to attend Wichita State University in August 2020.
Jan. 28, 2020 -- Wichita State University has selected the top 14 finalists in the annual Distinguished Scholarship Invitational (DSI). Three of the finalists will be selected as recipients of the Harry Gore Memorial $64,000 scholarships, which are among the largest undergraduate awards in the Midwest.
Jan. 16, 2020 -- Wichita State University has chosen the top 10 finalists for the Linwood Sexton Endowed Scholarship, a full-ride award geared toward minority students majoring in business or education.
Dec. 16, 2019 -- Courtney Powers, music director at South Philadelphia High School, is in the running for a Grammy of her own for her work in music education. She is currently one of 25 quarterfinalists for the award.
Dec. 4, 2019 -- Javier Martinez and Jonathan Lozano hadn’t even intended to earn Wichita State’s inaugural Parkinson Scholarship in 2018, but they did. Both first-generation college students share their stories of adversity and triumph and offer words of encouragement for future first-gen college hopefuls.
Nov. 19, 2019 - Many students today must decide between continuing their education, potentially accruing debt to pay off for decades, or finding jobs that don’t require a college degree. To help with this, Wichita State set aside $1 million to establish the Sedgwick County Access Grant, a need-based financial award for incoming freshmen.
Nov. 14, 2019 -- Junior business management major Maribel Sanchez is taking full advantage of the opportunities provided by Wichita State. She is a first-generation student, Gore Scholar, studied abroad in the Netherlands this past summer and was invited to speak at a national conference.
Nov. 7, 2019 - Levi Lowe, a senior majoring in applied computing and psychology is a first generation student who works 40 hours a week. Lowe works to pay for school on his own but was awarded a scholarship to help make ends meet.
Oct. 17, 2019 - Senior industrial engineering student Sydney Jaeger is making the most of her college experience. It’s not always easy, but she finds a way to balance time as an engineering intern, student, member of WSU Cheer and a campus leader.
