May 5, 2020 — Scraping frost from your automobile windshield before you can safely drive can be time-consuming and unpleasant, but a new device called Shiver could make it a little easier. WSU engineering students Rafael Bini Leite and Jefferson Vieira are developing a device that attaches to the windshield and has built-in sensors capable of detecting ice on the windshield, allowing motorists to clean and remove it effortlessly before it builds up.

May 1, 2020 — Andrew Stockmann, a Wichita State University senior in sport management, started an internship with the Omaha Storm Chasers on March 9. Three days later, the Storm Chasers announced that their season would be suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In many ways, that changed the focus of Andrew’s internship.

April 29, 2020 — In lieu of the traditional art show where graduating graphic design students exhibit their work, this year's seniors will be hosting their show online.

April 29, 2020 -- Thanks to a group of local professionals, including three Shockers, Sedgwick County creatives financially impacted by the coronavirus can now apply for emergency relief.

April 23, 2020 - Wichita State student teachers are jumping in to help with lesson plans during the pandemic. A group of 13 students contribute to an open document with lesson plans, videos and slide shows designed for remote learning.

April 23, 2020 - Wichita State graduate Cindy Miller describes her job with Harley-Davidson as that of an internal consultant who works in all areas of the company. She provides design guidance and conducts testing to deliver ergonomic, usability and user experience performance.  “It’s important for a rider to feel comfortable, as well as confident,” she said.

April 16, 2020 -- While hospitals and doctors’ offices are seen as the battlegrounds against COVID-19, there’s another group of medical professionals who are also on the front line: home health care workers.

April 15, 2020 -- Hanna Bates-Crosby is currently a nursing student at Wichita State University. She recently volunteered to work in New York City as a nurse during the novel coronavirus pandemic.

April 15, 2020 -- Krista Giggy, a Wichita State University alumna and nurse anesthetist, volunteers for a team to treat critical COVID-19 patients at a New Hampshire hospital.

April 14, 2020 -- Emerging Artists is an annual showcase of work by many of the best students in the School of Art, Design and Creative Industries. The March 14 event was canceled due to the novel Coronavirus. The group held a virtual awards ceremony through Facebook to celebrate the students' accomplishments.

April 13, 2020 - Wichita State University and Kansas State University will launch a dual-degree program that will give students the opportunity to earn both a Bachelor of Science from the College of Health and Human Sciences at K-State and a Bachelor of Science in nursing from the College of Health Professions at WSU. This is the first and only program of its kind in Kansas.

March 31, 2020 -- I started my internship with Strategic Communications at Wichita State University on March 9, when COVID-19 was an epidemic. By the end of the week, it had turned into a full-blown pandemic. In the midst of it I, Matthew Ferguson, was just trying to start a job.

March 25, 2020 -- The political science department at Wichita State University offers internships based in Topeka, Kansas and Washington D.C. which allows students the opportunity to work alongside legislators, representatives and congressmen. Wichita State students help with preparing bills and campaigns, managing finances and traveling around the state meeting prospective voters.

March 2, 2020 -- Nine Wichita State graduate students joined with graduate students from all of the Kansas Board of Regents universities and presented at the 17th annual Capitol Graduate Research Summit in Topeka on Feb. 26.

Feb. 27, 2020 - Wichita State graduate student Monica Connelly's research involves studying weapon detection by law enforcement officers using biological motion as a cue.
