Aug. 20, 2019 -- The first hotel on the Wichita State campus is beginning construction. A 106-room Hyatt Place hotel will break ground next week on Wichita State’s Innovation Campus, within walking distance of the new Fuzzy’s Tacos, the Shocker Store and Starbucks.

Aug. 16, 2019 - Kylie Cameron and Kevin Benavides worked summer internships at KMUW (89.1 FM). They reported and wrote stories for radio and the web on the Sedgwick County Fair, elections, Juneteenth and the anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing. While they don’t perform on-air duties, they are expected to fill all of the other reporting tasks.

Aug. 7, 2019 -- The Wichita State University campus will soon be home to a larger-than-life sculpture of its beloved WuShock mascot, thanks to Steve Clark – a longtime Greater Wichita YMCA board member, volunteer and donor – for whom the area’s tenth YMCA branch location will be named.

July 24, 2019 -- It’s easy to take the free t-shirts, halftime performances and musical chairs on the Charles Koch Arena basketball court for granted. But, during every Shocker Athletics game, a team of student marketing and game operations interns follows a carefully choreographed plan to make sure fans have a good time in between each play.

April 18, 2019 -- Wichita State students, according to YMCA president and CEO Ronn McMahon, accounted for around 28,500 visits during January and another 7,500 from students with family memberships. Wichita State students average around 25,000 visits a month.

April 16, 2019 -- Ryan Kendall, a senior from Pelham, Alabama, is a computer science major who took the long route to Wichita State’s Selected Team. He didn’t make the team as a freshman and spent the past two seasons on the Developmental Team. Wichita State coach Gordon Vadakin estimates around 10 percent of the bowlers who don’t make the team in their early years continue to try out for a spot on the Selected Team.

April 17, 2019 -- Khyati Mahavadia, from Ahmedabad, India, moved to Dallas in 2015. She considered a university in Texas before deciding Wichita State’s reputation and the applied learning opportunities connected with Wichita’s industry offered her the best position.

April 2, 2019 -- A plan to build a new Student-Athlete Success Center and renovate parts of Charles Koch Arena is moving forward.

March 8, 2019 -- Having direct access to students’ talent and skills is a huge part of why Airbus Americas moved to the Wichita State campus two years ago. One of those opportunities for collaboration played out perfectly this winter when Airbus officials in the research and technology department needed a last-minute artistic rendering for an airplane seat under development.

Dec. 6, 2018 -- Trudy Martin is a fifth-year senior at WSU studying electronic media and is an intern at KMUW.

Nov. 20, 2018 -- Student-athlete Tabitha Brown, a member of Wichita State's volleyball team, knows how to strike a balance between academics and athletics.

Oct. 19, 2018 -- WSU students can get free tickets to all home men's and women's basketball games.

Oct. 17, 2018 -- Wichita State University's Shocker Rowing team will soon have a new home in the downtown River Vista development.

Oct. 15, 2018 -- Every year, the Elliott School of Communication hosts CommWeek, which a series of events and short programs for communication students to attend and learn more about the industry.
