May 7, 2020 -- Leading up to the university shut down, Wichita State instructor and innovation design alum, Max Hinman and current innovation design student, Jared Goering worked together to design a virtual reality presentation that can be joined from any VR headset or computer.

May 5, 2020 — Scraping frost from your automobile windshield before you can safely drive can be time-consuming and unpleasant, but a new device called Shiver could make it a little easier. WSU engineering students Rafael Bini Leite and Jefferson Vieira are developing a device that attaches to the windshield and has built-in sensors capable of detecting ice on the windshield, allowing motorists to clean and remove it effortlessly before it builds up.

May 4, 2020 -- A new research partnership between Wichita State University’s (WSU) National Institute for Aviation Research (NIAR) and the U.S. Air Force will create a virtual B-1 Bomber that could help the Air Force predict the future of its supersonic bombers.

May 1, 2020 — Andrew Stockmann, a Wichita State University senior in sport management, started an internship with the Omaha Storm Chasers on March 9. Three days later, the Storm Chasers announced that their season would be suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In many ways, that changed the focus of Andrew’s internship.

April 24, 2020 -- When Lucas Webb and Aliyah Funschelle received honors at the Wichita State University Innovation Awards in January, their Bright Futures awards couldn’t have been more on the nose.

April 23, 2020 - Wichita State student teachers are jumping in to help with lesson plans during the pandemic. A group of 13 students contribute to an open document with lesson plans, videos and slide shows designed for remote learning.

April 23, 2020 - Wichita State graduate Cindy Miller describes her job with Harley-Davidson as that of an internal consultant who works in all areas of the company. She provides design guidance and conducts testing to deliver ergonomic, usability and user experience performance.  “It’s important for a rider to feel comfortable, as well as confident,” she said.

April 20, 2020 -- Aidan Jude – a spring 2020 Wichita State University graduate in electrical engineering, computer engineering and mathematics – will be embarking on a full-time career as a software engineer for Amazon web services in July.

April 16, 2020 -- Many Wichita State University freshmen enter college with undecided majors. WSU offers programs that expose students to different fields of work so they will be informed when deciding on their major. One of these programs is the Summer Research Institute.

April 16, 2020 -- While hospitals and doctors’ offices are seen as the battlegrounds against COVID-19, there’s another group of medical professionals who are also on the front line: home health care workers.

April 15, 2020 -- Hanna Bates-Crosby is currently a nursing student at Wichita State University. She recently volunteered to work in New York City as a nurse during the novel coronavirus pandemic.

April 15, 2020 -- Krista Giggy, a Wichita State University alumna and nurse anesthetist, volunteers for a team to treat critical COVID-19 patients at a New Hampshire hospital.

April 13, 2020 - Wichita State University and Kansas State University will launch a dual-degree program that will give students the opportunity to earn both a Bachelor of Science from the College of Health and Human Sciences at K-State and a Bachelor of Science in nursing from the College of Health Professions at WSU. This is the first and only program of its kind in Kansas.

April 10, 2020 - Wichita State computer science major Dexter Gerig placed first in the Individual Event of the National Cyber League competition.The cybersecurity competition, over two days and eight hours, involved a series of 40 challenges with 155 questions.
