April 15, 2020 -- Hanna Bates-Crosby is currently a nursing student at Wichita State University. She recently volunteered to work in New York City as a nurse during the novel coronavirus pandemic.

April 15, 2020 -- Krista Giggy, a Wichita State University alumna and nurse anesthetist, volunteers for a team to treat critical COVID-19 patients at a New Hampshire hospital.

April 14, 2020 -- Emerging Artists is an annual showcase of work by many of the best students in the School of Art, Design and Creative Industries. The March 14 event was canceled due to the novel Coronavirus. The group held a virtual awards ceremony through Facebook to celebrate the students' accomplishments.

April 13, 2020 - Wichita State University and Kansas State University will launch a dual-degree program that will give students the opportunity to earn both a Bachelor of Science from the College of Health and Human Sciences at K-State and a Bachelor of Science in nursing from the College of Health Professions at WSU. This is the first and only program of its kind in Kansas.

April 9, 2020 - Wichita State faculty, staff and students are helping each other deal with the pandemic. Whether it's a fun Zoom meeting, a phone call or help with a technology question, examples are abundant of people working together in a difficult time.

April 9, 2020 -- A coalition of businesses and government partners, the Ad Astra Coalition has joined together to answer some of the challenges being created in Wichita and Kansas by the COVID-19 pandemic. The coalition is co-led by Airbus Americas Engineering, Spirit AeroSystems, Textron Aviation, Wichita State University and WSU Tech.

April 1, 2020 -- In March, five WSU students traveled to Topeka to present their research and creative activity posters inside the Capitol building for the annual Undergraduate Research Day at the Capitol.

March 30, 2020 - The relationship between Wichita State's College of Engineering and the Wichita Police Department led to 3D printing of face shields used by first responders.

March 28, 2020 -- An effort to provide fabric masks to health care workers and first responders during the COVID-19 crisis is under way through a collaboration with Wichita State University’s makerspace – GoCreate, a Koch collaborative – and Bella Bonita Designs, a local fashion company.

March 25, 2020 -- The political science department at Wichita State University offers internships based in Topeka, Kansas and Washington D.C. which allows students the opportunity to work alongside legislators, representatives and congressmen. Wichita State students help with preparing bills and campaigns, managing finances and traveling around the state meeting prospective voters.

March 25, 2020 -- Up until recently, COVID-19 (coronavirus disease 2019) may have been a relatively new phenomena to the general public, but Wichita State University medical chemist Bill Groutas, two virologists from Kansas State University, and a physician/virologist from the University of Iowa have been working on a cure for coronaviruses for more than three years.

March 11, 2020 -- Three Wichita State University researchers and a student group have been awarded the John A. See Innovation Award.

March 2, 2020 -- Nine Wichita State graduate students joined with graduate students from all of the Kansas Board of Regents universities and presented at the 17th annual Capitol Graduate Research Summit in Topeka on Feb. 26.

Feb. 27, 2020 - Wichita State graduate student Monica Connelly's research involves studying weapon detection by law enforcement officers using biological motion as a cue.

Feb. 27, 2020 -- Inneke Vargas, a senior studying psychology with a minor in criminal justice, returned to Wichita State University after working in various industries. She found psychology after realizing the stigmas found in minorities. Through her research she hopes to make an impact on those affected my mental illness.
