The accelerated exercise science program allows students to fast-track their way to a master's degree. In five years, students complete both a bachelor's and master's degree in exercise science and are well prepared for high-demand careers in a wide range of settings such as health care, fitness industry, and community-based programs.

The Career Readiness Series: Professionalism and Global Fluency - Oct. 16
The Career Development Center is hosting another workshop for students in our Career Readiness series: Professionalism and Global Fluency from 3-4 p.m. today (Wednesday, Oct. 16) at Career Development Center in Brennan III.
Employers are looking for Wichita State graduates to be Career Ready — meaning graduates know how to use their talents, strengths, and interests. Being Career Ready means recognizing and demonstrating the competencies identified by employers that are crucial to a successful transition into the workplace.
Our workshops are designed to help students understand the meaning of these competencies, learn how to identify and exhibit these skills, and how to further develop them right now.

Artists wanted to transform utility boxes at WSU Tech
Attention artists! WSU Tech needs your help to bring some new artistic style to their main campus at 4004 N. Webb Rd. Several artists will be selected to paint original designs on electrical box covers throughout the campus, with an artist stipend of $400 per box. 17th Annual P3 Awards design competition now open
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) 17th Annual P3 Awards: A National Student Design Competition Focusing on People, Prosperity and the Planet (P3) is now open. This competition is designed to address environmental changes and develop real-world solutions. The EPA is seeking applications in the research areas of air quality, safe and sustainable water resources, sustainable and healthy communities and chemical safety.
This is a two-phase competition. Phase I teams compete for a one-year grant of up to $25,000 for project ideas addressing environmental solutions. Teams are eligible to compete for Phase II funding of up to $100,000 to implement their projects in a real-world setting.
The closing date for this competition is Tuesday, Nov. 19.

Be part of the Graduate Student Council
What: The Wichita State University Graduate Student Council (GSC) is a newly constituted graduate student governing organization led currently by the members of the Graduate Student Association.
Why: GSC seeks to engage graduate students with social and collaborative events, let voices be heard from graduate students in all departments, and open channels of communication between graduate students, faculty, and administration.
How: After the election we will have two meetings of the full council per month, as well as once monthly committee meetings. Councilors will serve until the completion of the spring 2020 semester.
When: The nomination period for the election is now to Friday, Oct. 18. Election week is Oct. 28-30. The council currently meets at 4:30 p.m. every Thursday.
What can you do as students: Nominate a peer or yourself as a representative of your department. Attend our events. Provide feedback about how we can serve the graduate student body better!

Shocker Rowing takes full advantage of its new home on the Arkansas River
Wichita State head rowing coach Calvin Cupp reaches for the shell, resting on a metal rack, and slides it away from the wall.
“Isn’t that cool?” he asks. “It makes it very easy. I did that with one hand.”
While pulling a shell out of storage is a routine part of the rowing world, it remains a thrill for Cupp and his rowers. They are early in their second year in the River Vista Boathouse, a 7,000-square-foot facility with room for their 32 shells, lockers, shower, equipment and studies.
It is a quite the contrast to their previous vagabond existence.

Host a trunk at Trunk or Treat!
Trunk or Treat is a family-orientated event welcoming Shockers of all ages to campus for a safe alternative to traditional trick-or-treating. Student Activities Council wants your department or student organization to host a trunk!

Make a difference as a Prevention Ambassador
The Prevention Services Advisory Board (PSAB) is currently recruiting students to become Prevention Ambassadors. They will assist the PSAB in our mission as it aligns with the #WSUWeSupportU prevention program that focuses on promoting mental health and wellness and preventing suicide, sexual violence and substance abuse. This position qualifies for a zero-credit internship, and will provide the opportunity to engage with the WSU community.

Campus roads closed for the Pumpkin Run on Saturday, Oct. 19
Portions of Perimeter Road, Alumni Drive, Yale, Mid-Campus Drive, Mike Oatman Drive, 19th Street, and Innovation Blvd will be closed for the Pumpkin Run from 8:45-10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 19. Most of the roads on the southern part of campus will remain open. Please make arrangements accordingly.
