WSU Bike Share is back
The bikes are back! Now, you can use the bike-sharing system from Wichita State University’s campus as far west as the Sedgwick County Park and all throughout the city. There is no limit on travel distance. The service provider for Bike Share ICT changed from Zagster to Tandem Mobility, with upgraded bikes and an improved app provided by Movatic.

Looking for a meaningful activity that will help you re-engage with school, without actually being in school? Want to make a little money?
Consider taking the Collegiate Learning Assessment (CLA). The CLA is a 90-minute open-ended assessment that helps WSU measure how well it's teaching critical thinking, analytic reasoning, problem-solving and writing skills. It's used by colleges and universities nationwide.
Students who complete the survey are eligible for either a $25 QT Gift Card or $25 in WSU Shocker Dollars.
Who is eligible to take it? Freshmen and seniors
Where is the CLA administered? Testing can be done socially distanced, in-person or remotely.

There is no testing fee. You will be required to share your WSU ID.

Nominate an adult learner for Adult Learner of the Year Award
In March 2021, the Office of Adult Learning will host the 2nd Annual Adult Learner of the Year (ALOTY) awards ceremony. In this ceremony, we will not only celebrate six years as an office, but we will also name an ALOTY, two finalists, a community partner and a WSU partner. We are calling on the WSU community to help us find an adult learner at Wichita State deserving of the title, Adult Learner of the Year. The deadline to nominate an adult learner is Friday, Jan. 29.
A student is considered an adult learner at Wichita State if they are a current undergraduate earning their first bachelor’s degree and is either: 24 years or older; a military or veteran student; or independent status.
ALOTY criteria:
- 3.00 GPA at WSU (extenuating circumstances can be reviewed)
- Displays perseverance in obtaining a degree
- Demonstrates Shocker Pride
- Possesses leadership qualities

‘Solving for X’ seeks participants who will share their unique stories
CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS:
Share your unique stories of home and be a part of this research visualization, a collaboration between the Ulrich Museum and the Departments of Dance and Sociology. “Sharing Matrilineal Memories at WSU,” the fourth exhibition in the "Solving for X = Identity" series, is participatory, focused on collecting memories of home for WSU students, faculty and staff.
Please follow the link to the Google Form to submit photos, as well as your responses to the following questions: 1) What do you remember about your mother’s home? 2) What do you remember about your grandmother’s home?
All submitted stories and images will be included in this Solving for X exhibition and on display in the Ulrich’s Grafly Gallery from Jan. 21-May 8, 2021.

Learn about Fairmount College, win prize in scavenger hunt
Have fun learning more about Fairmount College’s role in establishing Wichita State University during a scavenger hunt created by the Department of Anthropology to learn about Fairmount College's 125-year history.
From now through the end of January 2021, faculty, staff and students are encouraged to participate in this fun event that begins on campus and ends at Maple Grove Cemetery at 1000 N. Hillside, where many faculty and staff from the early years of Fairmount College are buried.
Students who complete the scavenger hunt will be entered into a drawing for an iPad
on Feb. 1, 2021. Faculty and staff participants will be entered into a monthly drawing
for a Shocker Store gift card.

Psychology course offers service-learning opportunity
The Department of Psychology is recruiting mentors for a service-learning course: Psychology and Problems of Society (PSY416). Mentors can be from any college or major.
The course’s service-learning opportunity, which can be complete remotely, centers around at-risk youth. Mentors will be assigned a mentee, and the pair will be pen pals, exchanging letters throughout the semester.
Mentors will also be required to attend class on from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Mondays. It’s not been determined whether class will meet in-person or remotely. Students will earn three credit hours upon the successful completion of the course.
Mentors are required to submit an application, pass an interview and background check. They will receive training at the beginning of the course and a grade at the end based on attendance and completion of assignments.

Ulrich Museum of Art offers exciting job opportunities for students
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to work at an art museum? The Ulrich Museum of Art on the Wichita State campus is looking for bright, hard-working student employees. The role of the gallery attendant and event staff is to provide excellent visitor service, while ensuring museum policies are followed. The individual in this role will be responsible for a variety of tasks, all of which ensure the safety and security of museum artwork, museum visitors and the smooth execution of the programs and events.

Wichita State student organization focuses on diversity and inclusion in sports
Two Wichita State students developed a student organization focused on diversity, equity and inclusion within sports. Sport management majors Hannah Jasinski and Taylin Fox founded the CHAMPS organization after reflecting about how they are underrepresented in the sports industry. Jasinski identifies as Latina Mexican, and Fox identifies as white and Mexican. Both also identify as women in sports.
