WSU honors the life and legacy of Martin Luther King Jr.
Wichita State University will celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with a series of events on campus and throughout the city.
The Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. holiday honors a man who brought hope and healing to America.
This monthlong celebration begins Thursday, Jan. 17, and will last until Thursday, Jan. 24, through citywide collaboration with organizations such as Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc., The Kansas African American Museum, Christian Faith Centre, and the Greater Wichita Ministerial League.

CourseLeaf Curriculum (CIM) is the new online curriculum change system replacing the current paper curriculum change forms. It is the complementary system to our existing online catalog (CAT).
WSU’s CIM go-live kicks off with training for faculty and staff involved in the curriculum change process, submitting and approving curriculum change forms, etc.
Two levels of training will be offered in various sessions Wednesday and Thursday, Feb. 6-7. Go to myTraining on the Faculty / Staff tab in myWSU to review the details of each session and register for the one applicable to your role in the curriculum change process.
Faculty training opportunities
All instructional staff are invited to choose from several in-person training topics offered on Friday, Jan. 18, in the Marcus Welcome Center. Classes will be offered in formatting images (photographs, artwork, etc.) for your class, Panopto, Quality Matters, the Blackboard Grade Center, and running effective online discussions. There will also be an opportunity to take the required accessibility instruction for faculty so you don’t have to do it online.

IDA will also offer a special session of the Blackboard and Accessibility come-and-go lab time from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Marcus Welcome Center this day, and there is no need to sign up for the lab, so if you find you need some help getting your spring classes set up, please come join us there!

Classroom Technology training schedule – spring 2019
Classrooms across campus are equipped with uniform technology and media equipment. Access is available to faculty and staff with consistent keys for most classrooms that are issued during a short training session. We encourage you to bring your personal laptop to test in the room during training. If there are additional needs or questions, please call 978-3588.
Faculty are encouraged to verify that their assigned rooms have the technology they need prior to the start of the semester.

Mandatory new GTA workshop coming Thursday, Jan. 17
A mandatory new GTA student workshop, including lunch, will be offered from 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, in 233 RSC.
In addition to Graduate School training, the Office of Instructional Design & Access will provide beneficial training and teaching resources.

WSU Honors course challenges students' mindsets
The Honors Leadership Challenge is a course taught by Peter Cohen whose mission is to challenge students and help them reflect on their interactions in class to prepare for life.
Students seek to identify ways to grow as individuals, and use their strengths to interact with the group. During one class session, students worked in pairs on an exercise known as Immunity to Change, in which students identify behaviors and beliefs which hinder them from achieving specific goals.

League coaches pick Shockers to finish second
Coming off an NCAA Regional appearance a season ago, the Wichita State softball team
was picked to finish second in the 2019 American Athletic Conference Preseason Poll,
it was announced last week.
Wichita State picked up three first place votes and 43 total points from league coaches,
just two points behind USF. The Bulls are the preseason favorites after going 39-23
in 2018 and falling in the American Athletic Conference Championship game to Tulsa.
