Candidates for director of Office of Disability Services to present Thursday, July 25 and Friday, July 26
Tomorrow (Thursday, July 25) and Friday, July 26, candidates will give presentations on “Innovative ways to engage the WSU community with Disability Services” as part of the interviewing process for the director of Office for Disability Services position. The presentations will be at 2:30 p.m. both days in 257 RSC. Anyone in the campus community is welcome to attend. The presentations will be 30 minutes, followed by a Q&A session.

KMUW is taking applications for speakers at Wichitalks
KMUW is hosting Wichitalks on Saturday, Aug. 31, at Roxy’s Downtown, and we’re currently taking applications for speakers.
Speakers will give a five-minute presentation (20 slides, auto-advancing every 15 seconds) about something they’re passionate about. The deadline to apply is Friday, July 26. More information about Wichitalks can be found on our website.

Faculty: Verify your classroom's technology at upcoming training sessions
Classrooms across campus are equipped with uniform technology and media equipment. Access is available to faculty and staff with consistent keys for most classrooms that are issued during a short training session. We encourage you to bring your personal laptop to test in the room during training. If there are additional needs or questions, please call 978-3588.
Faculty are encouraged to verify that their assigned rooms have the technology they need prior to the start of the semester.

Become a Shocker Circle Keeper
Join in the training to become a “Circle Keeper.” This free all day training will take place from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. tomorrow (Thursday, July 25), at KIPCOR, 2515 College Avenue, Newton. Trained keepers will guide a series of sessions to take place the week of Sept. 23-29 as WSU engages in a series of discussions about how Shocker Nation is building pathways into the future. This the next step in shared governance to yield campuswide involvement.
- Learn how to engage and facilitate difficult yet productive dialogue involving different perspectives.
- Cultivate new relationships with faculty, staff, and students and reconnect with others!
- Develop transferable skills you can apply within the larger Shocker community.

Chrome River launch July 29 – Sign up for trainings now
Chrome River Basics
If you have any involvement with travel authorizations, travel reimbursements, or Pcards (including but not limited to travelers, approvers, delegates, reconcilers, etc.), we strongly encourage you to attend Chrome River Basics. Topics will include transition to Chrome River schedule, training resources, approval tracking, and live demonstrations of pre-approval, expense and Pcard reports.
Chrome River Open Labs
For hands on experience and step-by-step instructions, attend a Chrome River Basics - Open Lab began Monday, July 15.
Attendees are encouraged to bring examples of actual completed travel authorizations and/or travel reimbursements to enter into the Chrome River test environment. Test travel scenarios will also be available for those without travel to enter.
Chrome River Basics and open labs were offered beginning July 15 (open labs for Pcard reconciliation will be offered beginning Tuesday, July 30).
These trainings are free and available to all WSU employees (faculty and staff). Seating is limited, so sign up early! Log in to myWSU and register through myTraining. For questions, contact myTraining@wichita.edu.
Win the Day 5k will affect campus roads and parking Saturday, July 27
The Win the Day 5k will affect some campus roads and parking from 7:45-9:15 a.m. Saturday, July 27. The following streets and parking lots will be closed or have limited access:
- Perimeter from Lot 3 to Mike Oatman
- Mike Oatman from Mid-Campus Drive to Innovation Blvd.
- Innovation from Mike Oatman to the traffic circle
- 18th from Innovation Blvd. to Oliver
- 19th from Innovation Blvd. to Oliver
The only lots that will be completely closed will be lots 4, 10, 29, and The Suites. The others along the route will have limited access.
Shocker Neighborhood 5k Walk / Run set for Saturday, July 27
The Shocker Neighborhood 5k Walk / Run will be held at Wichita State University on Saturday, July 27. The event will begin with registration at 7 a.m., with the walk / run starting at 8 a.m. from Charles Koch Arena.
The cost is $20, and $25 on the day of the race. Registration ends on Wednesday, July 24. The event is for all fitness levels. T-shirts are available while they last.
The event is being hosted by Shocker Neighborhood Win the Day, Wichita State, Wichita Park & Recreation, HealthCore Clinic and Denise Colborn Fitness.

Order by Aug. 1 to add a brick to the Shocker Alumni Walkway
Preserve your Wichita State legacy – or a loved one’s – with an inscribed brick paver on the Shocker Alumni Walkway. Located between the Marcus Welcome Center and Woodman Alumni Center and leading south into the heart of WSU’s Innovation Campus, the walkway is a lasting landmark in the ever-changing campus landscape, and a revenue-generating program that helps fund the WSU Alumni Association’s work in support of higher education. A portion of walkway brick sales goes into the WSUAA’s operational budget. The order deadline is Thursday, Aug. 1 to be included in this year’s annual installment.

Pumpkin Run registration is open
Join runners and walkers at 9 a.m. Oct. 19, for a fun journey through one of the prettiest
campuses in Kansas. As a participant of the USATF-Certified Pumpkin Run 5K, you will
receive a customized T-shirt, post-race snacks and an opportunity to mingle and chat
with fellow runners and local vendors in the Runner Village. The 4th annual 1K Little
Pumpkin Fun Run for ages 0-12 will start at 10:20 a.m. All little runners will receive
a participation gift and T-shirt. We look forward to seeing you on the course.
