USS and non-teaching UP employee self-evaluation is due tomorrow (Friday, Jan. 31)
The USS and Non-Teaching UP employee annual myPerformance self-evaluation is due by 11:59 p.m. tomorrow (Friday, Jan. 31). This is an opportunity for employees to provide input on job performance and accomplishments made since March 1, 2019.
Employees can access their self-evaluation through the myPerformance link found in myWSU. For more information, including quick reference guides and other assistance, go to www.wichita.edu/myPerformance.
‘Help! my evaluation has disappeared!’ – myPerformance tips and tricks
“I need to access my evaluation again, but it has disappeared! How do I get it back?” or “How can I access past evaluations?” These are the most common questions the myPerformance Team gets this time of year.
Never fret, the solution is simple: After you have accessed an evaluation for the first time, the status automatically changes from “Not Started” to “In Progress.” Therefore, you will need to checkmark the (teeny-tiny-easy-to-miss) box that says, “Show completed and expired tasks” and then click on the Search button. Voila! You should be able to access your current and past evaluations from there.
Remember: During Employee Self-Evaluation (Jan. 16-31), only employees will have unlimited access to their 2019-20 myPerformance evaluations. Leaders / Managers will have access to their direct report evaluations again during Manager Review (Feb. 1-29).

Ins and outs of grant administration: open workshops for faculty, staff
The Office of Research will host multiple workshops for faculty and staff who need help with or have questions about grant administration. Research staff can help with all of your questions, including those involving topics such as post-award, expenses, reports, funds, budget, cost-share and effort. Labs will be held throughout February. No need to RSVP or register, just show up with your questions. All labs will be held in 409E Jardine Hall. Invent for the Planet 2020 call for participants
It's time for the 3rd Annual Invent for the Planet (IFTP). Join the global movement to solve the world's most pressing problems in 48 hours. This public event is open to students, faculty, staff, and community members of all disciplines. How do you make the world a better place?
The competition will be held at the John Bardo Center lobby (JBC) Feb. 14-16. Breakfast, dinner, and refreshments will be provided to participants. Specific details on the schedule and competition will be communicated to participants near the start of the event.

IFTP will challenge you to put your theory into practice by solving real-world problems. You will focus on developing products to make the world a better place for the inventors of tomorrow. IFTP aims to motivate student innovators, entrepreneurs and creative thinkers to come together, apply design thinking, and find solutions for difficult and wide-ranging problems.
You will form teams of three-to-five participants and work to design and prototype a solution for a wide range of global concerns. At the same time, students from across the globe will tackle the same issues, allowing you to collaborate and learn from peers all over the world. Mentors will be available, and teams will present their solutions to judges for a chance to win more than $500 worth in prizes.

Institute of Innovation to host professional workshop
The Institute of Innovation is hosting a professional workshop April 16-17 that consists of two days of interactive and hands-on Design Thinking training. You will learn to how discover insights that can lead to new product or service opportunities, align teams around user’s needs, and ideate to solve defined problems. Plus, you will learn how to bring this process direct to your department or team.
The cost of admission is $550. Early-bird pricing ends Thursday, Feb. 27.

Free academic resources are available through TRIO Student Support Services
Student Support Services (SSS) is funded by the U.S. Department of Education to provide free academic services to students from First-Generation (FG) and Limited- Income (LI) backgrounds, as well as students with disabilities.
The free services include individualized tutoring, academic advising, textbook loans, assistance completing financial aid applications, and scholarships exclusively for student participants.

Changes in ADA-testing accommodations
The Office of Disability Services (ODS) is giving a friendly reminder to WSU professors of the changes in ADA-testing accommodations. All ADA-accommodated tests are proctored at Testing Services, located in 320 Grace Wilkie Hall. The office hours for Testing Services are 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, and 8 a.m.-7 p.m. Wednesdays.
Any ADA-accommodated test will need to start and finish during the hours Testing Services is open. If the test, with the appropriate accommodations is not set to be completed during those office hours, the professor and/or the department will need to provide the appropriate testing accommodations for the student. These may include a proctor, extended time to take the test, and a quiet testing environment.
The student must schedule their ADA-accommodated test by registering through email at www.RegisterBlast.com/wsu. The professor needs to complete the test form that was attached to the accommodation letter received from ODS, and send that completed test form to Testing Services at testingcenter@wichita.edu. The phone number for Testing Services is 978-TEST (8378).
There will be no cost to ODS students for the ADA-accommodated / proctored tests at Testing Services. Please call Isabel Medina Keiser, director of Disability Services at 978-3309 or email ODS at disability.services@wichita.edu if you have any questions about the changes.

Wichita State University Opera Theater presents annual ‘Scenes and Songs’ concert
Wichita State University Opera Theater presents its popular annual performances of "Scenes and Songs" at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 7, and 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 9, in Wiedemann Recital Hall.
Selections will be heard from "La Traviata", "The Magic Flute", "Madama Butterfly," "Don Giovanni," "Peter Grimes," "Hansel and Gretel," "Manon," "Fidelio," "The Tales of Hoffmann," and "L'incornazione di Poppea."
The concert serves as a great introduction to opera for all as well as a joy for seasoned opera lovers. WSU Opera Theater is under the direction of Alan Held with Bridget Hille assisting.
