Networked Cyber Physical Systems (NetCPS) Research Experience for Undergraduates

Welcome to the National Science Foundation (NSF) sponsored Networked Cyber Physical Systems (NetCPS) Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) site web page at Wichita State University. Wichita State University's Research Experiences for Undergraduates in NetCPS program is an opportunity for undergraduate students to spend a summer working with faculty researchers renowned in areas such as computer networks, mobile computing, wireless communications, and information security and privacy. A number of projects are available in diverse areas. Accepted students will work closely with WSU faculty and researchers on research problems with the potential for publications and significant impact on the future practice of various networked CPS.


What will you do?

  • Conduct cutting-edge research on networked CPS. Topics include: indoor mapping and localization, secure cloud computing and big data, human-robot interactions, wearable motion tracking, information-theoretic security. For more information visit the Projects page.
  • Spend 9 weeks in the Department of EECS at Wichita State University, home to one of the very few M.S. programs in Computer Networking in the country.
  • Receive mentoring from renowned faculty in their fields.
  • Learn research skills through seminars and presentations throughout the summer and working with graduate students from around the world.

What will you get?

  • A stipend of $500 a week (total $4500 for 9 weeks). 
  • Furnished on-campus housing.

You should apply if:

  • you are a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident.
  • are majoring in electrical engineering, computer/software engineering, telecommunications engineering, computer science, or any other related disciplines.
  • have a 3.0 or higher GPA.
  • are a sophomore, junior or senior.
  • you will graduate only after Sept. 2018.
